community rules
At Flip, we are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming Web site for all those 13 and above to enjoy. As with any online Web site, we need to set some basic rules to help keep Flip an open space where users can feel secure and free to express themselves. Please read and follow the below Flip community rules:
Cardinal Rule: Treat other members with respect.
DO NOT give out information about yourself (or anyone you know), like your last name, school, phone number, or where you live. You can never be sure exactly who you are talking to online, even if you feel like you've "known" them a long time. Be cautious of people who ask you for too much information. If someone leaves a comment that makes you uncomfortable or that you think is inappropriate, please let us know at help@flip.com.
No hateful, bullying, or sexually explicit material should be posted.
Be yourself: Pretending to be another person is both dishonest and unacceptable.
Do not “spam” by advertising products and services, and/or repeat the same posting multiple times.
Do not suggest or encourage illegal activity. We will collaborate with law-enforcement officials.
Do not give your password out to anyone. We at Flip will never ask for your password, so don't be tricked by someone impersonating a staff member.
Pick your username and flipbook names carefully. Please stray free of choosing names that are offensive, suggest illegal activities, or are meant to imitate others. We retain the rights to decide what is inappropriate.
Do not upload or post material that is:
- obscene and/or indecent
- sexually or violently graphic
- references or illustrates drug usage
- instructive for weapon and/or explosive manufacture
Flip is not a forum for the promotion of self-destructive behavior (eating disorders, self-infliction, suicide). Whereas members can freely discuss their struggles, users should not look to others for encouragement and advice. We recognize the seriousness of these conditions, and if you need to speak to someone, we recommend contacting the teen crisis center to speak to someone who is professionally trained and can really help.
Racial or ethnic slurs, religious intolerance, homophobia, and personal attacks are not tolerated on Flip. Such language will be removed from the site. If you come across offensive speech, please report it to the Flip moderators.
Do not “cyber” or solicit another user to “cyber” (participate in virtual sex) on Flip.
Finally, we strongly advise not getting together with someone you “meet” online: If you do, do it in a public place with other people present, bring someone with you, and let an adult know what you're doing.
The Flip community rules are enforced by a staff of moderators who monitor the site. We also rely on our members (you) to help police the site. If you come across any user abuse of the rules, or content that is either inappropriate or questionable, please report it by selecting the "report this as inappropriate" link or contacting us at help@flip.com. Don’t worry; your identity will be kept anonymous.
If you have any remaining questions about the Flip community rules, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
